It has been a serene couple months. You’re content with the way things are going in your life. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping, you even got that follow back on Twitter from the girl you met one time at a “rockin on the river” concert.
Even with all that positivity you start to feel a little empty inside. You can’t quite put your finger on the reason. Is it your diet of beer and Taco Bell? No way, it can’t be that. Especially since the double decker crunch wrap has like every food group in it.
Is it the end of summer blues? Nah, my Irish and English heritage don’t bode well in the humid heat, so I’m ready for colder weather. What could it be?
Then out of nowhere you hear it, you feel it. A brand new club banger from Justin Bieber, “Cold Water”. It was like finding the shirt you used to love when you’re cleaning your room. Like an old flame that you haven’t talk to since your break up for mutual reasons, but you always kept hope that one day you could work it out. All that emptiness is filled and all you needed was a little help from the Biebs.
I’m sure back in the fall we were all very hesitant to listen to JB’s new album, after all he had been in the public eye too often as the biggest douche in Hollywood, but when “What do you Mean” came out I think we all took a step back and gave Justin a golf clap.
Not too shabby for the guy that had the same haircut as Butters from South Park. He wasn’t done either. He dropped “Where Are you Now” by teaming up with some of today’s biggest names in electronic music. “Sorry” was the next banger that quite literally used to make me pull over to the side of the road just so I could let some dancing out.
When I first heard “Cold Water” and realized that all my emptiness was actually me just missing J-dawg, I had an epiphany. How was Justin turning me from a hater to a Belieber just from a couple of songs?!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and just say that Bieber has created a whole new genre for our generation. I mean the guy is 22 years old so he knows what the people want to hear. I won’t go as far as calling him a musical genius, but he has been able to bring the best parts about electronic music that we love and mix it with his angelic vocals. He teamed up with Skrillex, Diplo, and DJ Snake to just name a few, and has almost made the public forget about his fights and drunken joy rides.
I’m not sure what to call this new genre. Maybe J&B instead of R&B, or something along those lines. All I know is next time you find yourself feeling a little empty inside just reach for that Bieber Fever Reliever and all your feels will be complete.
