Fashion Friday: The Capital Region’s Best Dressed of the Week

Happy Fashion Friday! If you’re wondering who made the Capital Region’s Best Dressed list this week, you have very clearly come to the right place. Two Buttons Deep is the place to find out about the best looks from all over the 518. It’s also the place where if you get nominated, there’s a chance to win a $50 gift card to ZARA thanks to our friends at Crossgates Mall.

This week I had a fair share of nominations from our 2BD followers, which I appreciate because A) it makes my job easier and B) you guys are starting to get the hang of this thing. I love seeing who you guys think has the best style all over town, because my fashion-forward eye doesn’t have to be the end all be all here.

Check out who made this week’s list and keep sending me your favorite looks for the Capital Region’s Best Dressed list! And if your best dressed outfit just happens to be planned for tomorrow, come visit the 2BD Squad at the Times Union Gazebo at the Saratoga Race Course –we’ll be hanging there all day long.

Victoria Barone (@torbarone)

I’ve been eyeing my girl Victoria for the list for a while now, but she’s an Upstater living in NYC and I feel like to keep the Capital Region’s Best Dressed as authentic as possible, you need to be BACK in your Upstate hometown, or a current resident observing vaca somewhere else. And finally my opportunity came to capture this fashionable gal while she was in the 518 for a Saratoga weekend in the dead middle of summer.

What I love about this look is the TEXTURE! Her shirt and bag have some serious movement going on which is what breaks up the look and keeps it interesting while she’s colorblocking away with the marigold yellow (one of the hottest colors this season). I’ve really tried to step up my own personal accessories game over the years because it truly is what completes a look, and now I need to start taking notes from Victoria on how to keep setting the summer style bar very high.

Leah Carroll

Hellooooooo stripes! There’s a myth(?) –yeah I guess it’s a myth –that stripes aren’t all that flattering on people. And a lot of times, that can be true, but you gotta know what kind of stripes are right for your body type and also pay close attention to what direction they’re going in. Not a problem for Leah over here though, who was crushing the stripes look in this maxi dress. She should put all of your stripe-related questions and concerns to rest, honestly.

Why do her stripes work? Well, they’re bold and thicker than the little tiny ones that sometimes make you squint when you look at it. I love that the top half of the dress is ruched and brings the stripes in a few different directions before you turn your focus to the skirt. It’s ultra flattering for her tall figure, and I really love how she went for it by adding this super colorful headpiece and statement earrings to bring color into an otherwise muted look.

Lynsey Abbale (@lyns778)

We love pregnancy fashion here on Two Buttons Deep –remember our first official winner Catherine Hover? Her and our favorite Metabolic trainer, Lynsey, are both about to pop with their new little babes, and they’re both doing it in style. Lynsey can most often be found repping some Metabolic apparel and her favorite athletic wear, and I gotta say she looks cute AF every damn time. But seeing her all dolled up with this soon-to-be mama glow is a real treat.

Lyns is also rocking the super-in marigold yellow that I mentioned above with Victoria, and the way this wrap dress hits her is exactly what her shape needs at this stage in the pregnancy game. It hugs her in the right places but is still flowy and comfy enough for a hot summer day with a lil’ somethin’ cookin in the oven. The pattern is soft and playful, and the lace bandeau is a great color to contrast with.

Carina Rodriguez (@carinarodrgz)

Is there anything more fabulous than seeing a t-shirt and jeans look this good? Not really, no. I’m still trying to figure out why I look like a turtle when I wear a t-shirt and jeans –literally it’s probably the least cool look on someone like me. So, I get really excited when I see someone absolutely nail such a simple, classic look.

There’s so much about Carina’s outfit I love, but I’ll start from the bottom up because the pumps are what make a tee and jeans a statement outfit. It’s still a tee and jeans at the end of the day, so you’ve gotta make a splash in a couple places for it to get ya noticed. These high-waisted wide leg jeans from Express are a great summery pair of denim, and can definitely transition through to the fall before we hit boots weather. Instead of wearing a regular white tee and tucking it in, she went for the crop top, which fits a little wider, but provides just the amount of skin to be shown with the high waisted pant.

Now that’s what we call a best dressed list! Another week of stellar style. Stay tuned for the 2BD Squadcast to see who is this week’s winner of a $50 ZARA gift card, and to see who my special guest will be who will help me choose.

How do you feel?
