Late Night In The Morning provides a daily clip of what you missed in late night television so you can enjoy your beauty rest without missing out on the laughs. Today: Seth Meyers (Late Night/NBC) makes a proposition to Donald Trump to play a president on TV in lieu of being a real one, and it’s actually a very reasonable offer.
Seth and Donald have sparred ever since the 2011 Correspondents Dinner, which Meyers was the featured comedian and heavily targeted Trump. Trump has since criticized Seth for having a bad show and just this week said this:
A. Late Night has never asked Trump to be on the show
B. Seth then confirmed his ban of Trump from his show
C. Seth’s follow up proposition for a presidency on TV rather than in real life is actually a very legitimate idea which I could honestly imagine Donald Trump seriously considering (Trumping America, maybe?). But there’s a catch: in order for NBC to give him the series, he has to drop out of then race before the GOP Convention in July.
“Let’s be honest, TV is the perfect place to accomplish all you want to do with your presidency. Because a lot of what you want to do is impossible in the real world. But on TV, we just need to build a tiny part of the wall, then we can just CGI the rest.”
I think Seth Meyers has found his voice.
