COLONIE NY – Everybody has someone that they idolize. Whether it’s their success, demeanor, achievements, it’s not hard to find yourself doing your best to emulate that person. That can be a good thing, or a bad one; I suppose that lies in the eyes of the beholder.
I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say Bob Marini’s idol is Donald Trump. Why? And who is Bob Marini?
Bob (Robert Jr.) Marini is a 3rd generation real-estate mogul in Albany NY. Bob’s company Marini Homes develops upscale houses, communities and commercial real estate properties in the Capital Region. Like a mini DT essentially, who loves to show off their great buildings and awards. Their company’s tagline is “Albany NY’s Most Trusted New Home Builder” buuuuut when their Yelp page ranks Marini Homes as a 1-star company, the millennial in me doesn’t know what to believe.
Anyways, this story takes place at Bob’s actual home in Colonie that he may or may not have built himself. Donald Trump lives in a house developed by his own company so I’m gonna take a sharp assumption that Bob does the same and I’m sure it’s nice as hell. Now, with the 2016 election in full swing Bob is not shy about his political ideologies. He had placed multiple Trump campaign posters in both the front and rear of his home. But then some hooligans in the hood (aka most likely a couple affluent teenagers who’s parents probably forced them to spend time outside) stole the Trump sign off of Marini’s lawn. Not just once. Not twice. Not three times. Not even four times. But five times since June 2016.
I can only imagine the cat and mouse game that had Bob cursing through his morning coffee when he would see yet again that a sign was missing. How will all of Bob’s neighbors know he supports Trump without these signs? What can Bob do to keep these illegals off his property? At this point, I’m sure Bob paused his Donald Trump rally rant pump-up sesh and channeled his inner Donald before coming to a conclusion on what Bob was going to do.

So Bob the builder built a great wall, the strongest wall with a cement foundation so illegals can’t even budge the poster. The wall is so great and it even has barbed wire, the best barbed wire anyone has ever seen with spikes so sharp it could cut you so good. Marini also added lights and security cameras and a warning sign reading ”DO NOT Touch The Sign. If you are reading this, you are TRESPASSING. You WILL BE PROSECUTED To The Fullest Extent Of The Law.”
Did I mention not one other person in his neighborhood has campaign posters on their lawn?
Still no word on whether or not Mexico will pay for Bob’s wall. But for now it seems to be doing the job since no signs have been stolen since the wall was erected. Bob said he has not gotten the police involved, but if it happens again he will file a police report. Local police say a stolen sign will result in a misdemeanor, aka a fine and a good story to tell your friends.
