Late Night In The Morning provides a daily clip of what you missed in late night television so you can enjoy your beauty rest without missing out on the laughs. Today: James Corden (Late Late Show/CBS) hosts Lady Gaga who absolutely nails carpool karaoke.
Not that it’s easy to suck at singing your own hit songs, but Lady Gaga is not weird anymore and is actually a genuinely electric performer. I watched her “live” (sup Facebook) on her Bud Light Dive Bar tour and I actually watched the entire hour, after never downloading or caring for any of her music to date. I was blown away, she was captivating.
So when she came on to the Late Late Show last night I gave her a chance even on the most over-hyped bit in the history of late night: Carpool Karaoke. James has hosted dozens of chart topping musicians to “help him on his way to work” and honestly most of it gets a 4/10 entertainment rating.
Side note: NOTHING will ever be as bad as this bootleg German show’s attempt at carpool karaoke with Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake which resulted in the most awkward 1 minute I’ve ever seen. It’s way longer than 1 minute but you won’t watch more than that.
But Lady Gaga is fun to watch, and somehow James is as good of a singer as she is and it’s genuinely a good watch. Also, Lady Gaga just got her license, so James lets her drive and thats’s even better. Enjoy:
They didn’t stop with this 15 minute bit, either. Lady Gaga also started the show as host, then got bumped by James (in his underwear) to the band, where she threw down another epic performance.
