To all the women who were obsessed with Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” while growing up (and kind of still are), who dreamed of being Belle and falling in love with a giant furry dude that gave you a giant room full of books, listen to this: There’s a new movie coming out that could be even more magical.
Yep, that’s right. I said it.
“Beauty and the Beast” is now a live-action movie. That means we’re finally going to see what it would look like if our mystical, Disney childhood fantasies were reality.
Emma Watson is starring in the film as Belle, and there’s something special about her that shows she’s perfect for the role. Emma Watson looks just like Belle too, so that will help the movie feel more realistic. Even thinking about her dancing around the ballroom with that giant yellow dress is so exciting!
Dan Stevens will be playing the beast and Luke Evans will be playing Gaston. Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline and Audra McDonald have lead roles in the movie as well.
The film’s animation is truly remarkable. Technology has certainly come a long way, and now Hollywood is at the point where it feels like candlesticks and teapots can really talk (with French accents, too).
Watson revealed to Stylist magazine that there will be some differences in the beast’s character for this version. The filmmakers felt that he needed to be more likeable and modernized so their romance would be more believable.
Unfortunately, Disney decided to save all that juicy stuff for the film and the audience isn’t supposed to see the contrast in the trailer. *sigh* I guess we’ll just have to wait for it to hit theatres March 17th.
While we’re on the subject of the trailer, you should know that it is the most viewed trailer in 24 hours. It had 127.6 million views in just one day, thanks to media coverage and the power of Twitter and Facebook. “Beauty and the Beast” beat “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” among others movies.
I guess no one can get sick of a tale as old as time.
