The Cast Of Stranger Things Stole The Golden Globes Before It Even Started

Last night was the first time in probably years that I’ve sat down and watched an entire awards show. I’m not really sure why, I’m just not that into them. When I was 7 I had my appendix taken out and I sat on my ass doing nothing for a long time recovering. I remember the Emmy’s being on one night and my theory is that turned me off from watching any sort of awards show. Maybe I’m just weird?

Even though it was a great event filled with award speeches and shitty comedy from people like Amy Schumer, the best part of the entire night happened before the actual award ceremony began.

I haven’t seen LaLa Land, which killed it at the Golden Globes last night, but I guess the opening scene at the beginning of the Golden Globes was from that movie. A large array of various different talents of actors and actresses led by host Jimmy Fallon took part in the performance including my favorite gang, the Stranger Things kids.

Honestly I forgot about them for quite some time. Partly due to it being the smash Netflix hit of the summer and so much came out after it that it clogged my small brain. If you haven’t seen Stranger Things than hop on that fast before season 2 starts later on this year.

So during the LaLa Land parody performance, out comes Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard who start rapping as if they were in 8 Mile against Slim Shady himself. Bars on bars on bars.

As dope as this was, I also loved how they dropped a spoiler for the next season  by letting us Stranger Things nerds know that Barb did not die in the Upside Down and she’s alive! Barb was probably everyones least favorite character but good for her I guess. Dying probably sucks so it’s better that didn’t happen to ole Barb.

Shame on me for not remembering that Millie Bobby Brown already has some experience in the art of spitting fire. Here’s her rapping to the song Monster by Nicki Minaj on the Ellen show several months ago.

All in all, the Golden Globes weren’t bad. Meryl Strep’s speech was eh, like come on, of course she’s gonna get up and subtweet Trump on stage like that. It’s just what people do these days. Just like in Billy Madison, you’re not cool unless you pee your pants. Except now in 2017, you’re not cool unless you take shots at Donald Trump.

Anyways what I’m trying to say is, the Stranger Things cast stole the show and was without a doubt the best part of the entire night. No need for the awards show at all. Just give all of the awards to Stranger Things, no matter the category.

I’ll be watching the next awards show that rolls around in an effort to find someone that can top this.

Disagree? What was your favorite part of this year’s Golden Globes? Let me know in the comments
