I don’t know a lot about lacrosse. Scratch that, I don’t know anything about lacrosse. However, one thing I do know is blindly believing in my team no matter what the circumstances are (well at least that’s what I’ve been taught as a Mets fan).
So when the defending national champion North Carolina Tar Heels rolled up onto campus, to face the #8 seed Great Danes, the only thing we could do was believe. The rain didn’t stop us either, with over 6000+ faithful in attendance to watch out team sweat out an unbelieving victory in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament.
Take that for a bracket buster.
I couldn’t believe the electricity that was inside the stadium. Albany isn’t known as the biggest rah-rah school so this was an experience, unlike any other athletic event I’ve been at. I kid you not, it was like living in the last scene of ‘Another Cinderella Story’ (excluding the moment Chad Michael Murray kissed Hilary Duff).
Even Albany’s head coach, Scott Marr, understood the magnitude of the game. “That is quite possibly the best athletic event I’ve ever been a part of, 17 years in the making with the stadium, community, students, it was surreal at times.” I feel what you’re dropping there, coach.

Albany will face with #1 seed Maryland or Bryant, next Sunday at the University of Delaware. But don’t plan on seeing the Danes leave the tourney anytime soon with the momentum they’re running with!
