This week in Youtube: The Best of E3 2017!

This week in YouTube has been heaven for gamers as this year’s annual Electronic Entertainment Expo got underway. And as with any E3, we got some kick ass trailers for some upcoming games that now have us all riddled with anticipation for release days.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at this weeks best YouTube videos that came courtesy of E3.

Marvel’s Spider Man – PS4

Developer: Insomniac Games

Publisher: Sony

Release: Early (?) 2018

PlayStation 4 fans rejoice! We finally got a decent gameplay trailer for Sony’s upcoming Spider Man open world game. The trailer shows off a ton of  reasons why this game just might be the Spider Man people have been waiting to play. From swinging and Parkouring your way through NYC to a brief glimpse at a Donald Glovery character at the end, This title is shaping up to be a giant.

Far Cry 5 – PS4, XB1, PC

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release: February 27, 2018

In this new and far away fantasy land of the Far Cry series, we are placed deep in the heart of the mountainous catacombs of…  MONTANA? Yep, Montana.

This Far Cry shows a change in direction for the storied franchise, taking their fabled survival rpg style to America’s heartland. Instead of shooting foreign nomads and drug cartel members, we will find ourselves fighting a new enemy in far right religious cultist doomsayers under the lead of “Father”.

You’ll be driving quads, hunting and battling along side your friends to take back control of Hope County before Father “saves” everyone. Knowing the Far Cry series, I’d be on the lookout for any underlying social commentary regarding it’s modern American setting. The developers never own up to it but they always use this franchise to say something about the landscapes they inhabit.

Metro: Exodus – XB1, PS4, PC

Developer: 4A Games

Publisher: Deep Silver

Release: Early (?) 2018

This one is particularly special (at least for me). Iv’e been following this franchise from the very first book, Metro: 2033 and all of it’s sequels.

The books paint a vivid and exhilarating picture of what a post apocalyptic Russia would look like had the Cold War gone horribly wrong and life had to begin a new in the Moscow metro tunnels.

The two previous games did a magnificent job recreating what the books captured. Now, with Metro: Exodus, We will get to see even more of this fascinating universe which, by the looks of things, will explore more of the dreaded surface world and the mutated beasts that inhabit it.

Star Wars Battlefront II – XB1, PS4, PC

Developer: EA DICE

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Release: November 17, 2017

This is the first game on our list to have a 2017 release date and it couldn’t be better. The new installment of EA’s Battlefront saga will be out just in time to play before the release of The Last Jedi. However, if you remember the brilliance of the original Battlefront 2, you’ll also know that this game has a lot to live up to.

We shouldn’t worry too much though. With Dice running the show again, we don’t need to fret in the graphics or game play department. We just have to keep an eye on EA to make sure they don’t hold our wallets for ransom with DLC. Not saying they did it with the first one, but they kind of have a history so we shouldn’t let our guard down.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus – PS4, XB1, PC

Developer: MachineGames

Publisher: Bethesda

Release: October, 27 2017

So let’s say you’re not familiar with the Wolfenstein series. Maybe you have seen The Man in the High Castle series on Amazon? If you have, it’s that, but in a game. A much bloodier cinematic version, but that for the most part. For those of you still lost, It’s America if Hitler won the war.

Take the Metro game, mix it with Nazis and you have Wolfenstein. You don’t have to take my word for it. Just watch the trailer or play the first game and you’ll have the same feeling as the rest of us.

The Evil Within 2 – PS4, XB1, PC

Developer: Tango Gameworks

Publisher: Bethesda

Release: October, 13 2017

I honestly don’t know much about this franchise. I know there is a movie called the Evil Within but I don’t think there is a connection between the two properties.

I’ve never played the first one but I have heard only good things. By the looks of this trailer though, I might just have to pick this one up and see for myself when it comes out.

Days Gone – PS4

Developer: Bend Studio

Publisher: Sony

Release Date: December 29, 2017

As a new exclusive property for Sony, Days Gone just looks outright badass. It’s a Walking Dead, lone wolf, zombie apocalypse, thriller, survival game with a side of fries. We got to see it’s announcement at last year’s E3 and this year we got a whole lot more.

If you are a fan of zombie survival this is a must buy for sure (unless you don’t have a PS4 because… you know, exclusives…).

Official Call of Duty: WWII – PS4, XB1, PC

Developer: Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software

Publisher: Activation

Release Date: November, 5 2017

It looks like Sledgehammer is back in rotation to make the next CoD (but we knew that).

The annual series has become a mainstay in the gaming world, but with the surprisingly low rated reception (for a CoD game) of last years Infinite Warfare, Activision is taking it back to the trenches of WWII. Is it because they are going back to their roots and what made the franchise popular in the first place? Or are they doing it because Battlefield 1 killed last year and the future warfare shtick has been played out? Who knows. All that remains is a good looking trailer for a shooter worthy of a Call of Duty entry.

Assassin’s Creed Origins – PS4, XB1, PC

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release Date: October 27, 2017

A new Assassin’s Creed? Yes please! In Egypt? Yes Please! The origin story of the entire Brotherhood of Assassins? YES PLEASE!!! Whether you have never played an AC game before or you are a die hard fan waiting for the next movie to come out, this game can do no wrong. The series has become a staple in the game history index and this entry will most likely live up to the name.

There was so much more released this week at E3, so if you have a favorite blockbuster game that wasn’t included here, just pop it in YouTube followed by “E3 2017” and you might find what you’re looking for.
