Aly & AJ Made New Music and Childhood Me Couldn’t Be Happier

It’s been 10 years since Aly & AJ made new music. 10 years is a long time –long enough to forget about this pair of starlet sisters. But regardless of the giant lapse in time, let’s just say childhood me is SO ready for the reintroduction to the music scene per their big announcement last week.

You might remember Aly & AJ for their hits Potential Break Up Song and Like Woah. You might also know them from the Disney Channel original movie Cow Belleswhich is of course an awesome movie (as everything the Disney Channel did in the 2000s was awesome).

It’s hard to believe they were only in their early teens back then, singing about heartache and love they hadn’t probably dealt with. Remember these lyrics? So profound.

We got along
We got along
We got along until you did that
Now all I want is just my stuff back
Do you get that?
Let me repeat that
I want my stuff back

You can send it in a box
I don’t care, just drop it off
I won’t be home
‘Cause without me, you know you’re lost
Minus you I’m better off
Soon you will know

But of course they’re older now, significantly better looking and able to write music based on having actually gone through breakups and overcome challenges as adults.  They’re even posing for Playboy to wash away that Disney reputation and make a new name for themselves as a sisterly pair (one blonde, one brunette this time around).

Aly & AJ’s new single “Take Me” is the perfect party song you that can’t help but dance to. It makes me feel like I should be in a convertible cruising down the streets of LA in the middle of the night with all my friends. Which sounds a lot better than real adult life, so childhood me is definitely throwing a dance party somewhere listening to this.

This isn’t the only taste of new music we’re going to get from Aly & AJ. In 2018, they will release an EP with four songs and later a full album, so keep your eyes peeled.
