Of course millennials are going to get jazzed about the return of their old favorite show, but you know what? Nobody really cares. The internet has become nothing but a catfish of demand for networks to bring back shows from the past.
I’m talkin’ Full House, Fear Factor, Goosebumps, Bill Nye the Science Guy. All shows that had legendary runs in their hayday and should be left as such. But now because of faux demand on the social media, networks invest millions to reboot something that isn’t anything more than a stroke of nostalgia for those asking for it.
You really think your grown ass is gonna sit for an hour and watch kids pick boogers for prizes? If so, you need help.
The new Double Dare, like the original, features two teams competing to win prizes by answering trivia questions, completing messy physical stunts and ultimately going into the infamous obstacle course. Yes, the human hamster wheel, gigantic mouth, wringer and the iconic Double Dare nose will return. Contestants will be announced at a later date.
Listen, I loved this show as much as the next 8-year-old, but that’s the point. It’s a kids show. You ever go to someone’s house, or a playground that you haven’t visited since you were a kid, and realize it is about 1/10th of the size and greatness you remember it as? That’s the same with rebooting shows, it’s the facade of nostalgia. Keep them in your fond memories where they belong. The world is out of new ideas.
