I Actually Started A Book Club In Saratoga And You Should Join

Hey guys! If you remember, a few weeks ago I told you about my 5 New Years resolutions. Iíve officially quit the chew, I have been grinding at Metabolic, Iíve been blogging like a wild man for both Two Buttons Deep and The Morning Skate, I have not stopped buying dumb shit (got to work on it)…

But one of the things Iím most proud of is that I started a book club and we are CRUSHING it.

This year my friend Liz and I are starting a book club in an attempt to read more. Iím sure thats all Liz is doing this for. Me, however, I want to expand my imagination, aka I want to work on my vocabulary, aka I want to sound smarter. Yeah, itís nice to be hot (see number 1) but I also want to be able to back up a conversation. I have a couple buddies that are just lyrical comedians every time they speak. I want to be that guy and I think I can become that guy by reading some more books. 1 book a month, followed by a book club meeting where we discuss the book.

To be honest I didnít know if this was going to be an actual thing but it has become one. In our first month weíve gained almost 15 group members and we read the book One of Us Is Lying. Yeah, I picked out the book because I thought itíd be fun and it was compared to the breakfast club so of course Iím going to send it.

Thursday night the club and I met at the Henry St Tap Room to go over what we liked, what shocked us and naturally had some drinks. Not only is this a book club but it is also turning into a social club. Next month for our meeting we have already decided to meet up at a bowling alley, bowl a few frames and talk books. Who have I become?

Also, all you ďmachoĒ men out there who for sure are going to give me shit for this, need to open their eyes. Iím not hitting on anyone in this group but if I were its literally 13 girls to 2 guys. Thatís a POWER ratio. Everyone knows that girls dig intelligent dudes who not only hit the physical weights but get the brain firing on all cylinders too. Just ask my boy Ebrahim Aeem.

Okay, so maybe not. BUT this actually is a ton of fun and the more the merrier. If you want to join its easy. Shoot me a message and let me know you want in. We have a private group on Facebook I can add you to where we discuss the book and give everyone updates. There is a no pressure and to be honest its a really good group of people. If you want to get a head start for February, the next book were are ready is Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.

Iím going to end up with an entire fucking library looking so astute. What a spirited long term goal, love it.

How do you feel?
