Fashion Friday: The Capital Region’s Best Dressed This Week

Did you know that Jack Carpenter is the BIGGEST fan of Fashion Friday? He almost unfriended me (on social media and IRL) when I was too hungover to write last week’s post so yes, I admit, I missed a week of recapping the fashions of the 518. My hangover was only part of the excuse, the other part was that it was a quiet week on social media for killer outfits from local people. What’s up with that, guys? Let’s call it even and say we all had an unacceptable week last week, OK?

But, we’re moving on to another roundup of stellar style, and I gotta admit, we’re coming in hot. From casual denim looks, to NYC chic and throwback fashion, I’m excited about what I’ve seen the past few days which means you should be, too. So, get inspired! Check out the latest looks that made this week’s Capital Region Best Dressed list.

Kelsey Gates (@kel_quaintrelle)

It’s about time my BFF made this list because she is serving up looks on a regular basis right here in downtown Albany. She took her upstate style to New York Bridal Fashion Week and the people on the streets of NYC were gazing up at this chick like she was Karlie Kloss or something. I mean, she basically is.

I am OBSESSED with this front slit, exaggerated bowtie dress with a fun, zigzag pattern and a puffy, cuffed sleeve. This outfit is perfect for being just your everyday #GirlBoss exuding confidence and style wherever you go, or for carrying the look into the evening when you’re ready to maybe loosen the bowtie a bit, swap the coffee for a cocktail and go a few buttons deep.

Louise McManus (@vischerferrygeneralstore)

The Vischer Ferry General Store in Rexford has quickly become a staple stop for members of its local and surrounding communities because, well, it’s cute and cozy AF, and the company inside its doors is just as sweet as the treats and lattes you can get while you’re there.

Owner Louise McManus was recently featured in the Beekman 1802 Almanac, and this pic below with the article’s author (and VFGS regular who also looks adorable here) Jennifer Vanderwerken, Louise is rockin’ some awesome, casual street style that I simply can’t get enough of.

Is it a Candian Tuxedo? Yes, but like a 2.0 version with this side stripe on jeans that is totally in right now.

Madison Vandenburg (@madisonv)

Remember when I said American Idol should just cancel its newest season and announce Shaker High School student and singing superstar Madison Vandenburg the winning title?Well, I’m still right about that since she’s currently in the Top 10, and now she’s continuing to kill it and make my Fashion Friday job way easy with this fire flames look she had going on in one of the latest episodes of the show.

GIRLLLLLLLLLL!Taking on Hollywood like a true natural, this metallic moto jacket is literally giving me life right now. I love how it’s paired with an itty bitty polka dot blouse for some extra sass and then a classic, black skinny jean that everyone on the planet feels like their best self in. The best part of Madison’s outfit, though? That contagious smile that clearly comes from someone who is so humbled and grateful for the experience she’s having. Note: I think she might’ve smiled even HARDER when she was reviewing soft serve ice cream with Two Buttons Deep. Just sayin’.

Ben Ryan (@benryantv)

Ben Ryan might be the only person in the 518 who loves shopping at ZARA at Crossgates Mall more than I do, and I know he’s going to be mad one of his ZARA finds didn’t make the best dressed list (yet). What did catch my attention this week, though, was Ben’s killer 90s throwback look he wore yesterday while checking up the new retro pop-up store on Lark Street in downtown Albany.

Is this pop-up just a men’s shop? I need to find out ASAP so that I can head there and fit myself up in throwback fashion just like Ben. I’m thinking the look on my left is my favorite (maybe not the overalls), but this retro Nascar-esque bomber jacket is pretty freakin’ cool. It was probably manufactured before Ben was even alive but it’s OK, bud, you can pull it off regardless. And you know what they say about people who wear their sunglasses inside.

What do you think? Ready to up your own personal fashion game after reading this? Feel free to nominate your fashionable friends (or let’s be face it, yourself) for the Capital Region’s Best Dressed list, and stay tuned for a new roundup every week. Or at least the weeks where there are good looks and I didn’t have too much to drink the night before.
