While John and I continue to shop our talents around the 518 in pursuit of performing the National Anthem at as notable of an event as possible, I still keep my eye out for the competition. There’s a lot of people who can perform the Star Spangled Banner, but few as passionately as Jack and John. Although the Valleycats stiffed us, and I’m assuming the Empire just can’t find our contact info yet, someone popped up on my feed who made me realize me and John have some work to do if we want to get to the top.
Step aside Donald Glover, THIS is America. This video right here. An army salute inside our favorite box store while a girl named Randy sings the national anthem for an audience of bypassers voluntarily using a motor scooter to shop for their coca-cola and Cap’n Crunch.
Next time you’re abroad, tell them to stay off Twitter and just watch this video if they want to know what it’s really like here in the USA. Randy has some serious pipes and I can only hope she converts this limelight of 7 million views into something better than her current gig. This video and performance was in honor of her Father who I assume has fallen, so I hope she is able to ride this wave, and if she doesn’t, she could at least make an excellent back scratcher.
