Fashion Friday: The Capital Region’s Best Dressed of the Week

Happy Fashion Friday! I look forward to this day every week because there’s just more and more good fashion appearing on my feeds these days that deserves to be featured. The only thing I struggle with so far is that I’m trying like, really hard, to not repeat anybody on the list. But my goodness we’ve highlighted some amazing Mr. and Ms. Fashionistas so far that they truly do have a spot for them being held here repeatedly. But, it just doesn’t seem right to recycle just yet, so I’m using it as an opportunity to expand my network and find some new peeps who are stepping up their fashion game.

And with that, here’s another week of first-timers here on the Capital Region’s Best Dressed list.

Samantha Fagan (@culinarysquare)

Now THESE are some engagement photos, people. What better way to get some practice with your photographer than to head out into the open waters of the beautiful Lake George and let the breezy air make you look like a damn supermodel out there? Right? Right.

Sam’s looks for this shoot were super chic, feminine, yet totally comfortable and very much “her.” Couples who do engagement shoots often get a little too out of their comfort zone and try to dress in a way that might not reflect them very much, and that ain’t good. You could tell Sam felt her best in this flowy, off-shoulder white top paired with a fun, floral high-low skirt to keep things light and summery. She could mix and match the top a couple different ways, and the outfit was simple enough to let her beautiful smile and amazing hair and makeup do the rest of the talkin’. Just imagine how gorgeous she’s going to look walking down the aisle in a few months.

Carmen Duncan (@coachcarmen5)

A lot of people have been waiting to see Carmen on the list, and today’s the day. I’m really digging how she took the neutral base of her outfit and made it POP! with these patent leather bright pinks and reds that all tie back to each other in some way. Those shoes are truly one of a kind and honestly, the more I look at this outfit the more I realize how GD strategic every single accessory is –did you even notice the shirt has a red collar?! Come on!

And of course, Carmen takes it up just one more notch by confidently rocking a pair of suspenders in the best way possible. I appreciate all of the thought and creativity that went into this look.

Jai Maison AKA Miranda Moirai (@m_moiari)

There were SO many amazing looks at the Capital Pride Fest this past weekend, but one of the people I met just so happened to look as good on the outside as she did on the inside, and that was Miss Miranda Moirai, AKA Miss Gay Pride Syracuse 2019.

I stopped her in the middle of a busy sidewalk and she handled an abrupt interview like a champ, but of course she did because she is a pageant queen AND a real queen at heart. I heard from a lot of the people at Pride that “day drag” is extremely difficult to pull off because, well, it was a hot day…so you get it. But Miranda Moirai powered through looking gorgeous and fabulous. She also had the patience to teach me how to use that amazingly practical and dramatic fan.

So much to say, but can’t find the words. In this moment: I am on cloud 9, overjoyed, and having a full circle moment. To win this title truly means the world to me. When I first started dancing with @albanyberkshireballet , the Berkshires and community as a whole took me in like a family member. Everyday going to rehearsal I felt like I was in a second home. Along with such an loving community, I was given opportunities that I thought my dance career would never reach. To win this crown gives me the chance to return the hard work and love that the Berkshires gave to me. I cannot wait to use this title to spread joy, love, and above all inspiration!!! My many thanks to all my friends, family and sisters! Another gigantic thank you to the amazing judges panel that ranged from: state senators, Queens, and trans activists, you all were so kind, it was a pleasure to meet and hug you all! Most of all, a huge thank you to Miss @boxxavine for all the hard work she put in, to create a truly inspiring and FUN pageant. Just like Miss Gay Finger Lakes, I encourage all who enjoy running for pageants or would like to experiment drag in new ways to run for this crown! Here’s to another amazing reign ahead, I can’t wait to see what will happen next!!! #missgaypridesyracuse #missgayberkshires #drag #pageant #newcrown #5thcrown #joy #love #gay #titleholder #fun #amazing #overjoyed #humbled #ihopetoinspireothers #pridemonth
