It’s actually happening! And pretty soon, too. Jack and I are taking on Albany for the next year and moving into Redburn Development’s first open apartment building downtown. Our goal is to experience Albany firsthand and document it for all of you to see –the good, the bad, and the buttons deep. It’s part of what they’re calling Live in Albany –so like, duh –it’s pretty self-explanatory. We’re just going to live in Albany, OK?!
And since great minds think alike, Jack and I both had the same idea of creating some sort of rainy day cheat sheet or Albany-specific bucket list of things we want to make sure we check off during our first year. We’re going to call it the ALLbany Bucket List, get it?
It says a lot about who I am as a person that a solid 90 percent of the things on my bucket list are going to be food-related. Albany has some of my favorite restaurants in the Capital Region, and I am both excited and scared for what that’s going to mean for my physical health over the next 12 months. That’s why I need all the suggestions I can get –just keep in mind I am not into things like hiking, biking, being outside in the cold, things that don’t involve shopping, etc.
Joking! I’m joking. If there are things like that that simply need to be done, I will do them! I mean, that’s what we’re all about here at 2BD –having unique experiences we wouldn’t otherwise be doing if it weren’t for our strange need to broadcast ourselves being idiots for the entire internet to watch. We went curling last year for f’s sake. I actually hope some of my skills (like biking) will improve now that I’ll be within reach of a CDPHP Cycle! whenever I please, and with all this talk about tearing down 787 and improving Albany’s waterfront, my list of potential biking destinations could potentially get a lot longer over the next year.
Oh, and don’t get me wrong –please ALSO send me as many restaurant recommendations as you’d send in to a casting director at Diners Drive-ins and Dives. I want to know all the underrated, hole-in-the-wall spots, especially as a self-proclaimed dive bar aficionado and amateur Bloody Mary reviewer. We’re going to want to create content pretty much everywhere we go, so don’t be shy in telling us what’s up –or joining us along the way.
So, whether you guys are Albany pros and have some solid recommendations to send, or have been eager to spend some more time in the capital City yourself, let us know where we should go and what we should do! It’s going to gear up real quick and we don’t want to miss out. And stay tuned right here on Two Buttons Deep for all of the updates about our move and what’s coming up next.
Not a bad view for the next year, am I right?
